Fall 2017 Engineers

Who Are We? DEV is the first and only completely student-run development agency operating on Harvard's Campus.   We build both web and mobile applications for a variety of clients, from start-ups to established businesses.

What Are We Looking For? Harvard students interested in taking their programming skills to the next level.  DEV uses professional level development practices to ensure our teams can produce good, scalable code.  No previous experience with professional software development is required, but candidates should have expressed interest in coding before, and know at least one language reasonably well.  Candidates should have at least an intermediate level of knowledge in core CS concepts like data structures, functions and algorithms (whether through Harvard classes or personal projects).  We're looking for people who can commit to working about 12 hours per week either learning our stack/practices or working on an assigned project (see dev.hsa.net/work for some of our past projects).

What Do We Offer? DEV offers the ability for Harvard students who are interested in coding, but aren't yet comfortable engaging in large scale projects the toolkit needed to break into the next level.  We will teach new hires modern mobile and web technologies (MEAN stack web apps and React-Native cross platform mobile apps), good development practices (code reviews, git management, agile) and quickly get them working on projects for real businesses. For students already experienced, we offer the ability to develop on interesting projects term time, and to learn new technologies in a structured way.  Pay is salaried per semester with project-based bonuses.

Fill out this google form by 11:59pm, Wednesday (9/13) if interested.  Please email any questions to noah.putnam@mail.hsa.net.

Fall 2017 Designers

Who Are We? DEV is the first and only completely student-run development agency operating on Harvard's Campus.   We build both web and mobile applications for a variety of clients, from start-ups to established businesses.

What Are We Looking For? DEV is looking for Harvard undergraduate students who have a knack for understanding, solving, and communicating solutions to messy problems. Design work at DEV includes everything from designing user interfaces to developing brand identities for up and coming startups; we value adaptability and the wide applicability of the design process to solve all sorts of problems, keeping people’s needs at the center of it all.

Candidates should have experience in user experience, user interface design, or product management, or be able to demonstrate interest and competence in human centered design. Bonus points for experience in frontend web or app development. Students will be expected to contribute 10-12 hours of work per week.

If you’re an illustrator, we’d still love to talk – contact Humphrey Obuobi at humphrey.obuobi@mail.hsa.net for more information.

What Do We Offer? DEV offers the ability for Harvard students who are interested in design, but haven’t had the chance to gain real world experience. New hires will be trained through the basics of human centered design and UI design and the opportunity to hop on projects quickly. For students already experienced, we offer the ability to execute design and grow skillsets, and to learn new technologies in a structured way.  Pay is salaried per semester with project-based bonuses.
